Failing Building
Built 1886
235 SW First Avenue
Architect: Warren Williams
Cast-Iron Manufacturer: Willamette Iron Works (Edward A. Rix & Co. of San Francisco supplied structural iron girders)
Owner Henry Failing always built well. Coupled with later owners who were also attentive to quality maintenance and repair, this building remains in good condition today. The storefront has been unified for occupancy by one tenant, altering the original recessed entries that were separated by pilasters, but leaving the corner pilasters and those located along Oak Street.
