Smiths' Block
Built 1872
111-117 SW Front/Naito Parkway
Architect: W. W. Piper
Cast-Iron Manufacturer: Unknown
Smiths’ Block was built by prominent attorney, real estate investor and U.S. Congressman, Joseph Showalter Smith and William K. Smith. Once one of nine similar buildings, Smiths’ Block is the sole remaining example of Portland’s more popular cast iron patterns. The segments of the building are well preserved. Some remnants of a stock exchange can still be found on the second floor.
